2 bedroom inspirations

Although my current bedroom is comfy, it definitely doesn't look like a place where a designer lays her head! I've been keeping a collection of inspiration photos for my own room and thought I'd share.

This Ron Marvin designed bedroom gave me a great idea of what to do with a huge mirror we currently have just resting up against a wall in my bedroom. It doesn't have a frame yet, but it would be perfect when framed resting on two side tables!

I actually have a sunburst clock similar to the one above this bed. It's nearly identical to this one, in a room styled by Turquoise LA. It was my great aunt's and it is sooo lovely. Sunburst are classic, and I definitely need to add it back into my bedroom. The person who designed this room also DIY'd the pattern you see on the walls here. Great idea for adding pattern without a lot of $$.

I love the graphic prints on the pillows and the pop art above the bed in this one. And like the bed in the first photo, this one doesn't have a headboard. I kind of like not having a headboard, what do you think?

Lastly, Armon and I have soo many travel photos, and none of them displayed. I think it would be great to add some big shots of Japan & Italy somewhere in our room.

I'll be sure to post pictures when I finish the redesign! ;)

0 suzani love

"Suzani, which means needlework in Persian, is the name given to large, embroidered textiles from Central Asia that were used as hangings or bed covers. These textiles were made of several panels of cotton or linen cloth that were embroidered with silk thread. To create the piece, the designs were first drawn on the panels in ink by either a family member or a hired professional. Several women in the family would then embroider different panels, and after the embroidery was complete, the panels would be sewn together to form the finished cloth.

Suzani were made in cities and towns in Central Asia; the different motifs on the textiles indicate where they were produced. This suzani, with its realistic flowers and embroidered birds, is typical of Nurata, a town in central Uzbekistan. It is made of six cotton panels, five of which are complete loom widths, and is embroidered with chain stitch and couching." - Source

I love these colorful quilts!
Hopefully one day I can have one of my own.

Etsy ShopMaterial Recovery has some amazing recycled Antique Suzani pieces....

The sun hasn't been out in about 2 days here in Atlanta, so I'm craving something bright and fun to perk me up this morning. I'm loving these fun patterns from illustrator and designer Helen Dardik! How cute would would they be as wallpaper for a kids room?

She also has some gorgeous prints for sale in her Etsy shop.

0 coming soon

Just a few movies I'm looking forward to seeing!

This movie looks amazing! What a great idea, can't wait to see it.

This trailer leaves me speechless. The first IronMan was so fun, this one looks even better! Guaranteed to be a good time.

"Why Did I Get Married?" was Tyler Perry's best movie, in my opinion. And this sequel looks like he upped the ante even more!

Happy Friday Ya'll!!

1 currently crushing on...

...the amazing portfolio of Nest Interior Design. This Dallas based design firm is headed up by award winning designer Beth Dotolo. I love the classic and fresh rooms they create with perfect attention to detail!

These custom pillows have a subtle skull detail within the classic b/w color scheme, brilliant!

I saw the "before and after" of this sofa on Design*Sponge and had to check out the genius behind it!

This is a perfect example of how modern can still be warm and comfortable. Love those metal chairs by the fireplace!

Both of these rooms use mirror to add light and sparkle to complement the dark color scheme.

I'm in love! For more on Nest, check out the Nest Interior Design site. Beth also writes a blog featuring other designers and posts about Nest projects. Getting out my sketchbook to start designing something, right now!

0 artist spotlight: ron ackins

Super talented illustrator Ron Ackins does these illustrations just "for fun". I love his sketching style and the use of soft cool colors on top!

He's done collaborations with a few clothing brands, but the illustration you may recognize most from him is this very popular Obama tee from Undrcrwn.

2 weekend fun

Happy Monday everyone! I have to say I'm still adjusting to having weekends off with my new job but it feels great! I spent most of the weekend relaxing, getting things done around the house and watching the Oscars. Did you watch? What did you think? It was one of the more entertaining ones that I've seen in a while.

I took a few pictures of the highlights of my weekend to share with you. Check them out!

On Friday, I went to an amazingly good Mexican restaurant with some girls from work.
These fish tacos were sooo good!

On Sunday, I made a trip to Goodwill where I saw this amazing little love seat and I wish I had somewhere to use it; it was only $50! The pattern was so cute, see...

I did score a really cute dress for work for only $5 though...

...and I picked through all the fun earrings they had for a few minutes, but I couldn't decide. Too many choices! I love Goodwill, so that was the best part of my weekend.
How was your weekend?

By the way, I added a cool bar to the bottom of the blog where you can see who's online, easily share posts and see what's up on my Twitter. Check it out!
