3 brooklyn inspired

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I had a ball catching up with family and friends in North Carolina - but I had Brooklyn on my mind the entire time! I actually ran into a few of my friends who have relocated to Brooklyn and love it there, and talking with them about it reminded me of the fabulous new collection from Aphro Chic! Jeanine collaborated with illustrator Samantha Hahn to create a beautiful assortment of home accessories including pillows, table top decor & even a shower curtain. All of it features beautiful watercolor illustrations depicting the good life in Brooklyn. They did an awesome job capturing the spirit of the BK, which inspired me! I decided to create a design board based around my favorite piece in the collection.

The design board below features the "Brooklyn Life Indoor" pillow from AphroChic and products from CB2, Urban Outfitters, Pottery Barn and more.

4 rue la la

Rue Magazine just debuted their second issue and they are really raising the bar! Featuring top designers like Summer Thornton and Windsor Smith, the Rue team did a fabulous job at including gorgeous interiors photographed perfectly. I'm really excited that they added a gallery to their site too, so you can save all your favorite images for your inspiration file!

3 prada wallpaper

Who knew Prada was designing wallpaper? Not me! Check out a few of the previous designs which have adorned the 575 Broadway Prada store. Since 2001, this fashion design powerhouse has had an ongoing wallpaper art installation at their luxurious New York boutique.

Janelle Monae has this j'ne sais quoi about her that you can't really pin point. She's equal parts throwback and new age; sporting a consistently stylish wardrobe of vintage inspired pieces all the while proclaiming herself an alien android from outer space. How she makes it look so effortlessly cool, I'll never know but she's so good at it I can't get enough! I may be a little obsessed. She would be a dream interior design client for me because I'm sure she has impeccable taste. I created this mood board for what I envision her office to look like. Judging from her black and white wardrobe, I can't imagine a color filled home for Ms. Monae. Instead, I'd create a luxurious monocramatic color scheme that plays with texture and mixes periods, just like her!

6 artist spotlight: amy sherald

Amy Sherald creates this ethereal oil paintings that look like snapshots of a dream. The figures all seem as if you caught them in the middle of a whimsical story line and I love the textured backgrounds with saturated colors. Wonder if she actually writes a story to go along with these?

Powder room. Half Bath. Whatever you call it... why not make it dramatic? I love the idea of a surprisingly chic bathroom.
