3 artist spotlight: fly lady di

This weekend I found an artist by the name of Fly Lady Di while surfing new blogs... and fell in love! This woman can truly be called a "hip hop renaissance artist". She parlayed her classical dance training into a successful career as a dancer for artist from Fabulous and Tweet to Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy. And now she has translated her amazing skills as an acrylic painter into the performance art of live painting. Her work is graphic, bold and colorful and completely articulates her love of all things "punky" and hiphop. Each piece delivers her emotion and simultaneously evokes a response from the viewer. You can definitely see her influences from art deco with the intricate details and graffiti artist with the vibrant colors.

I LOVE her work and her story definitely inspires me. Even though I'm in school for Interior Design, I still am a visual artist at heart and I love music too. Teaching piano has been a great way to keep music in my life without the pressures of performing. I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember, and I want to create art professionally alongside with my interior design career. I love to see people who can manage a career with many sides, because that's what I want to do. Lady Di also still teaches dance, her first passion. If I could, I'd be a piano instructor, interior designer, and a visual artist all at once! I just have to figure out a way to make 36 hours out of 24 each day! ;)

Plus, you have to love her style... the quirky glasses, the b-girl outfits and such. She's too cute!
