I'm always curious to see how celebrities live. In America we put so much emphasis on their appearance, what they are doing, who they're dating, and so on. We rarely get to see them at home though. Which, to be honest, I'm totally fine with - enough is enough with the celebrity obsession, really! But I have to admit, I do wonder how the inside of some of my favorite celebs homes' are decorated.
Sean "P.Diddy" Combs may be someone you love or hate, but you have to respect his business genius. There aren't too many like him in his field! Complex recently posted photos of his amazing NYC apartment and I had to share them with you!
How about that illuminated column flanked by this unbelievable view? And the venetian plaster ceiling that is so perfect it reflects the light.

Confession: I've been dancing around my studio by myself to this song for a couple of weeks now. I'm in love with Elle's voice and the song is too cute! The video is a perfect visual for the song; bright colors & fun prints fill the shots from start to finish.

Janelle Monae has this j'ne sais quoi about her that you can't really pin point. She's equal parts throwback and new age; sporting a consistently stylish wardrobe of vintage inspired pieces all the while proclaiming herself an alien android from outer space. How she makes it look so effortlessly cool, I'll never know but she's so good at it I can't get enough! I may be a little obsessed. She would be a dream interior design client for me because I'm sure she has impeccable taste. I created this mood board for what I envision her office to look like. Judging from her black and white wardrobe, I can't imagine a color filled home for Ms. Monae. Instead, I'd create a luxurious monocramatic color scheme that plays with texture and mixes periods, just like her!

At the beginning of my high school years I had an obsession with jazz. While everybody else was listening to the Backstreet Boys and Pink, I was listening to Billie, Ella, Sarah, and the list goes on. Don't get me wrong, I loved pop music too, but I would spend hours a day soaking in as much jazz as I could. My favorite was and still is Miles Davis. I loved his music so much I felt like I was falling in love with him! To this day, Kind of Blue is one of my top 5 albums of all time. I haven't discovered a jazz album that envelopes me in the same way.
I imagine Miles' home to be sleek, tailored, and very masculine. I love mid-century modern interiors as much as I love jazz - and these new pieces have a great retro feel. The YSL pumps and Chanel lipstick are there because he was known to be quite the womanizer! And how cool is it that Dogfish brewery created a beer in honor of Miles' other iconic album, Bitches Brew?

One of my favorite albums from last year was Alice Smith's "For Lovers, Dreams & Me" which featured this ethereal cover art by artist Audrey Kawaski.
Now Audrey K is back with an exhibit of her fantastic paintings. I love her muted color palette and soft forms painted over wood. It seems she toys with the juxtaposition of innocence and sensuality and definitely has a clear Japenese influence. Check out some of the work featured in her new series "Hajimari" below. If you're in NY, she's showing at the Joseph Levine Gallery until January 9th.
